Located along the Sutlej river, the city of Anandpur is directly linked to the Kangra district by the National Highway 503. A hub of a lot of cultural and religious activities, it is considered one of the most sacred locales in the Sikh religion.
Its architecture depicts large periods of Sikh history, with the Viraasat-e-Khalsa Museum and innumerous Gurudwaras built to mark various events of the past.
The city is also a witness to the festivities of the Hola Mohalla during spring, the same time as the festival of Holi. This celebrates the war art forms which were prevalent amongst the Khalsa militants of Guru Gobind Singh.
It acts as a major attraction to photographers and tourists from all over the globe who take part in the colorful jamboree.
